Mold Remediation
Mold remediation is not just the removal of mold on the surface but the deep cleaned. This is regulated by the EPA to ensure that the mold is dealt with properly as well as safely. Some mold can be very dangerous to your health. This is why removing mold safely is very important. Mold spores are air-borne and can travel easily from one home to another as well. Getting your mold removed properly is important to ensure that everyone is safe as well as it is done correctly.
When disturbing mold, the spores can really act up and go airborne throughout the whole house through the air ducts. It is important that your mold remediation is done with proper techniques to ensure the mold is, in fact, being removed and not just spread everywhere.
Do I need to test for mold?
If the site of mold is present, then that is your evidence that there is a mold issue. But, what kind of mold, may need further testing. This is especially important if the mold is black. We have all heard of black mold, however, the dangerous black mold type is pretty rare, to be honest. So, if the mold is black, don't always assume the worst.
Mold remediation is
a simple process
Mold removal is not rocket science. You should be wary of a contractor that starts to speak over your head with large terms. Certainly, we can come up with some large terms but the bottom line is the same, you need the mold removed properly and safely.
This will most likely involve the use of a breathing mask as well as a protective suit in some cases during the mold removal process. We will block off the area and only remove parts that are affected. If you have a corner for example where the mold is, that area will be removed and rebuilt, however, the rest of the room will just be thoroughly cleaned. There may be the need for vacuum or air scrubbers to continuously purify the air as the spores are being released. These will use filtration systems that will trap the spores and stop them from getting all over the building that is being cleaned.
At times it is recommended that you have your air ducts cleaned after the mold remediation. This ensures that any spores that were airborne before we started are cleared out. Our air ducts are full of dust and mold and should be cleaned regularly anyway, so this is a perfect time to have that done.
